Christmas Light Installation Cost in Houston

by | Oct 29, 2026 | Houston Christmas Lights

Quick answer

With us, warm white C9 roofline lighting is $6 per foot with an $800 minimum. A typical two-story Houston home with about 200 feet of roofline comes to around $1,200. That price includes design, installation, repairs all season, takedown after New Year and storage until next year. Trees, wreaths, garland and color are added to the quote.

“How much is it?” is the first question almost everyone asks us, and a lot of Christmas light companies won’t answer it until someone comes out to the house. Here is how our pricing works, what changes the number, and how to estimate your own home before you call.

Roofline Pricing by Size

Most of the cost of a Christmas light installation is the roofline: the edges of the roof, peaks and garage that outline the house. We price it by the foot, so the math is simple.

What the Price Includes

The per-foot price is not just for hanging lights. It covers the whole season:

  • Design. We plan which roof sections, peaks and entries to light so the house looks balanced from the street.
  • Commercial-grade LED lights and clips. We supply everything, cut to fit your roofline. You don’t buy any lights.
  • Installation by our insured crew, with $1M in general liability coverage.
  • Repairs all season. If a bulb or strand goes dark while your lights are up, we come back and fix it.
  • Freeze Response Guarantee. If a freeze damages a strand, we repair it within 24 to 48 hours at no charge.
  • Takedown and storage. We take everything down after New Year and store your lights until next season.

What Changes the Price

  • Length of the roofline

The biggest factor. A single-story ranch might have 130 to 180 feet worth lighting, while a large two-story home can have 300 feet or more.

  • Trees

Wrapping trunks and lower branches is one of the best looks in Houston, especially on big oaks and pines. Trees are priced by size and quoted once we see them.

  • Color

Warm white C9 is our standard roofline price. Multicolor, red and white, and other color mixes are added to your quote.

  • Extras

Wreaths, garland, pathway lighting, columns and shrubs are quoted on top of the roofline.

  • Hard-to-reach spots

Very tall peaks and unusual rooflines are quoted after a walkthrough so there are no surprises on install day.

How to Estimate Your Own Home

  1. Walk the front of the house

Count the roof edges you can see from the street, including the garage and any peaks. Those are the sections most people light.

  2. Add up the feet

Pace off the front of the house, or check your home’s plans. Multiply by $6, and anything under $800 rounds up to the minimum.

  3. Preview the look

Upload a photo to our free Light Designer to see your house lit up before you decide.

  4. Get an exact quote

Send us your address. We measure the roofline and send your final price, usually within 24 hours.

Ways to Keep the Cost Down

  • Light what shows from the street. Skip back and side sections nobody sees. On wooded lots, roof sections hidden behind trees are not worth paying for.
  • Start with the roofline. Many families light the roofline the first year and add trees or an entry the next.
  • Book early. October and early November give you the widest choice of install dates before the pre-Thanksgiving rush.

Professional Installation vs. Doing It Yourself

Store-bought strings look cheaper at the register. The real cost of doing it yourself is time on a ladder, lights that fail after one cold snap, and a December weekend spent untangling cords and fixing dead sections. With professional installation you get commercial-grade LEDs cut to fit, an insured crew on the roof, repairs all season, and nothing to take down or store in January.
