Sienna, TX

Sienna, TX, also known as Sienna Plantation, is a master-planned community located in Missouri City, just southwest of Houston. The area has a rich history dating back to the 1820s when it was part of Stephen F. Austin’s Old Three Hundred, the first group of families who settled in Texas. The land was originally used as a sugar and cotton plantation, operated by the Waters family in the 1840s, and later by the Scanlan family, who acquired the property in the late 19th century.

In the 1950s, the property was purchased by the Catholic Diocese of Houston and operated as a retreat until the 1970s. The land remained largely undeveloped until the 1990s, when it was transformed into the modern master-planned community known today. Development began in earnest in 1997, creating a blend of residential neighborhoods, schools, recreational facilities, and commercial areas.

Now, Sienna is known for its beautiful homes, top-rated schools, golf courses, parks, and community amenities, attracting families and businesses alike. The community has retained its connection to the land’s history, with street names and landmarks reflecting its plantation past.
